Excursions : Vesuvius
Mount Vesuvius is one of the most famous volcanos of the earth and with its characteristic shape gives to the Neapolitan landscape an unmistakable look.
Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in the 79 a.C. and for the destruction of the roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
An eruption in 1929 and another in 1944 altered the shape of the crater. Since then Vesuvius has emitted only a plume of smoke.
Mount Vesuvius is today regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3.000.000 living close to it.
The winding road leading to the Vesuvius is between orchards and vineyard, crossing lava castings and arrives to the Vesuvius observatory, built in 1845.
No to be missed:
- Lacrima Christi wine tasting
- A visit of a local manifacture lava, sea-shell, coral and cameos.
Vesuvius visit can be combined with one of these excursions: Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Naples, Sorrento.
